Sixteen-year-old Mayil is secretly loved by her handicapped cousin, Chappani, and the village rowdy, Prayattayan. But, she falls for a city doctor who takes advantage of her and deserts her. Gradually she realises how much Chappani loves her. Later, Chappani is jailed for killing Prayattayan while trying to save Mayil from being raped. Now, she stands besides the railway tracks, waiting for Chappani to return.
